Arches National Park

Our total mileage yesterday from Salt Lake City to Moab was 322 miles.

The weather today is forecast thundery. So far it's very warm but I think we'll be lucky if we escape getting wet :(

First walk of the day - Park Avenue

Sheep rock - I'm sure you can see why it's called sheep rock

Balanced rock which weighs 3577 tons

Landscape arch

Tunnel arch

Pine tree arch

North window

South window

Both windows

Turret arch

Double arch - pity we couldn't get closer to get a clearer view but the coach was waiting.

I'm sure you'll agree that these arches are all spectacular. Whilst we were out and about the weather was lovely and warm, albeit a little cloudy. We could see bad weather in the distance though, with lots of lightning and thunder but no rain for us. After we left the park we were taken to the local supermarket to pick up our picnic for tomorrow as Capital Reef Park has nowhere to buy anything. We couldn't believe how dark it was when we came out a short while later and just as we were getting out of the coach the heavens opened. Apparently Arches park only has 10cm of rain a year and I think half of that fell on us when we were getting out of the coach. Amazingly an hour and a half later the ground is dry and the storm has gone over the hill. Hopefully we can still get to have a swim.
